Philosophy of our Integrative Psychiatry Clinic

Integrative & Holistic Psychiatry

The Philosophy of our Integrative Psychiatry Clinic is both grounded in medical science and traditional wisdom entrusted to us by our ancestors

We believe that mental health symptoms are not only medical or biological, but also psychological, relational, societal, and spiritual. These symptoms can be messages from our inner world, signaling where healing and attention are needed.

The Philosophy of our Integrative Psychiatry clinic is to strive to understand the full picture of a person’s life and to support healing at multiple levels: mind, body, and soul. This includes conventional psychiatric care as well as integrative approaches—herbal medicine, nutrition, movement, psychotherapy, trauma work, and in some cases, exploration of non-ordinary states of consciousness through practices like breathwork or ketamine-assisted therapy.

For those who feel stuck or are facing complex challenges, we also offer short-term treatment intensives that provide diagnostic clarity, emotional movement, and soul-level insight. These can serve as stand-alone experiences or deepen existing care.

“Every dilemma has multiple contributing elements, and the process of attempting to understand these elements leads us towards healing.”

Our philosophy at Integrative Psychiatry Clinic is about tailoring evidence-based practices to the need of individuals and that blind application of science can be as harmful as over-reliance on alternative traditions. Our focus is towards the individual getting better – with the term “better” or “recovery” being defined by the people we serve.

Our team includes psychiatrists, therapists, and physician assistants who share a philosophy of integration and holism. They have a vision of collaborative, respectful, and person-centered healing. We also refer to acupuncturists, functional medicine doctors, herbalists, and other professionals who bring expertise in the many facets of health.

We honor each person’s values and preferences, and believe healing is most powerful when people are supported—not rushed—on their unique path.

We realize that becoming healthy is often a marathon and not a short sprint. Our role is to see people through this process as an encouraging guide.

Philosophy of Holistic and Integrative Process

The journey from treatment to growth can take many forms. At Integrative Psychiatry Austin, we offer a truly collaborative and integrative approach—blending psychiatric care, psychotherapy, functional medicine insights, and transformational healing. For those seeking deeper exploration, we also offer treatment intensives and support for working with non-ordinary states of consciousness.

Each person’s healing path is different. We’ll help you choose the approach that fits your life, your pace, and your vision for change.
