At Integrative Psychiatry-Austin, our intensives offer deep, focused healing — but not all deep work is the same.

Some people come seeking resolution for emotional patterns or trauma. Others are drawn by a need to understand spiritual experiences or life transitions.

This post helps clarify the difference between our Therapeutic and Psychospiritual intensives — so you can choose the space that best serves you.

🔹 What Is a Therapeutic Intensive?

A Therapeutic Intensive is for individuals who feel:

  • Stuck in recurring emotional loops or trauma responses

  • Repeating relational or behavioral patterns

  • Burdened by grief, anxiety, shame, or inner criticism

  • Held back by something they can’t fully name or resolve

These sessions often involve:

  • Parts work or internal family systems (IFS)

  • Somatic processing

  • Exploring origin stories and emotional imprints

  • Building new internal structures

This intensive is ideal if:

  • You’ve done some therapy but feel like you’ve hit a plateau

  • You want to go deeper into a particular theme (a breakup, burnout, trauma, a turning point)

  • You want a container to shift something that weekly therapy hasn’t been able to reach

🔹 What Is a Psychospiritual Intensive?

A Psychospiritual Intensive is for those who feel:

  • Called to explore something bigger than the self

  • Unraveled or expanded by a spiritual experience or awakening

  • Questioning meaning, identity, or their relationship with the Divine

  • Drawn toward transformation but unsure what that means

These sessions often involve:

  • Symbolic work, dream or image exploration

  • Discussion of spiritual beliefs or shifts

  • Reflection on identity, purpose, or soul wounds

  • Gentle integration of mystical or altered states (including past psychedelic experiences)

This intensive is ideal if:

  • You’re navigating a spiritual transition or existential question

  • You’ve had a psychedelic or ketamine experience that stirred something unresolved

  • You feel something deep is moving inside — and you need help holding it

🔁 What They Have in Common

Both types of intensives:

  • Are 3–4 hours long

  • Involve presence, curiosity, and deep listening

  • Can have an add on of ketamine support if needed

  • Offer time for integration and next steps

  • Are not rigid — and can shift based on what arises in session
