James Koch, PA

I consider it an honor and a privilege to be invited into my patients’ lives. Healthcare can be lacking in empathy, understanding, and patience. I provide an active listening experience, one that is full of empathy, and patience. An experience that allows a therapeutic relationship to form, and become firmly established. Our minds should be treated with the utmost compassion, with complete respect, and acceptance of many viewpoints. Our life journeys are different, but as we take that journey, we long for someone to see us, and hear us as we relate our experiences and impressions, our thoughts, as we tell our story to the world. We NEED to be seen and heard as humans. Providing individual care is our priority, however, in addition, we are experts at providing care for the entire family.

James Koch is a Physician Associate, with training in Internal Medicine, Pain Management, Addiction, and Psychiatry. Mr. Koch has been a PA for 20 years, and a Licensed Paramedic since 1994. James brings a holistic approach to his practice of medicine and believes in treating the mind and the body.

Jedidiah Becker, PMHNP

Our mental health cannot be neatly separated from our physical bodies or the unique life events that have shaped us. Psychiatric medications are useful tools that have helped untold millions find relief from the symptoms of mental illness. But most individuals who have struggled with mental health understand that medications alone are rarely enough to achieve the balanced, fulfilling lives that they desire. The question then becomes “What else can be done?”

A vast constellation of factors contributes to our sense of well-being in life. Psychotherapy, healing unresolved trauma, meaningful exercise, stress management, play, sleep hygiene, nutrition, targeted supplementation, meditation, a sense of social belonging, and quality intimate partner relationships are just a few.

I view my role as that of a consultant and collaborator to each client. Together we can explore your unique struggles and strengths, and forge a path towards well-being using tools and practices that resonate with you. My duty is to maintain empathy, curiosity, vigilance, hope, and unconditional positive regard in service to every client.

A bit about me: I grew up in the Piney Woods of East Texas. I moved to Austin in the late 90s to study Biology and German at UT before moving to Regensburg, Germany for 5 years. There I earned a master’s degree in political philosophy and history, worked as editor of an academic journal, and generally had a lot of fun. After walking away from a career in academia, I came home to Texas and returned to graduate school at UT. Here I found my calling as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve worked in acute care psychiatric hospitals as well as conventional private psychiatry practices. I was thrilled to join the team at Integrative Psychiatry of Austin – one of the few practices I’ve encountered where truly holistic care is at the heart of their treatment approach.

Dr. Cass Naumann, DAOM, LAc.

Dr. Cass Naumann is an intuitive teacher and healer whose decades of studies and innate gifts bestow upon her clients an elevated sense of well-being, awareness, and self-compassion. People who work with Cass report subtle changes to all levels of their body, mind, and spirit.  She has mastered a myriad of healing modalities including: Qigong, Tai Qi, vibrational sound healing, acupuncture, herbal medicine (Chinese and Western botanical) cupping, energy work (medical qigong/reiki), breathwork, bodywork (tuina), yoga, and meditation.  In essence, Cass is a lightworker, ushering the collective consciousness toward more peace, balance, and loving kindness; starting with herself as she strives to embody the healing medicines she practices: breath as center, food as medicine, to walk in both integrity and self-compassion with a playful spirit and to embrace the power of gratitude, surrender, and the cultivation of selflove. Cass is devoted to the heart and spirit of this medicine and believes we all have the innate capacity to heal ourselves.

Dr. Cass is a gentle guide, bringing equal parts elegant professionalism and grace to her practice.  Cass earned her doctorate in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, with an honors concentration in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Cass is a licensed acupuncturist, Board certified Chinese Herbalist and Board certified Diplomat of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine by the NCCAOM.

Her devotion to helping transform lives stems from her belief that we all have innate ability to heal ourselves. Cass facilitates trauma recovery with acupuncture and herbs, and is a certified acupuncture detox specialist (NADA).  She is particularly passionate about supporting people suffering from symptoms of cancer, trauma, and chronic pain.  Her reverence for ancient medicine is perceptible in the calm spaciousness she brings to her healing sessions.  Cass’ focus on prevention, wholeness, wellness, and lightness of being helps her clients feel less stress and more quality of life. Her practice is also informed by her doctoral study abroad in Kyoto, Japan (the birthplace of Reiki), where she did an intensive study on Japanese techniques. On the lighter side, she offers Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture, cupping therapy, Chi Nei Tsang, and Shakujyu Japanese meridian therapy.

Cass has been teaching yoga, Qigong and meditation for over 15 years. She is 200-hour RYT certified with the Yoga Alliance and is a 7th generation Reiki Master/Teacher in the lineage of Master Usui; an honor she holds sacred.  Cass has extensive study, practice, and multiple certifications in Medical Qigong; and is certified through the AOBTA.

Dr. Cass is quickly becoming an expert in the field of Qigong and vibrational sound healing, as a soon-to-be published author and international teacher.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from The University of Texas in 2001 and delights in sharing music and vibration as part of any healing opportunity. When she’s not working, Cass enjoys tending to her garden, playing in nature with her son, and reading spiritual texts on her couch in the golden light of sunrise.
